The Parent Room
Become an Active Volunteer!
If you are a parent and want to volunteer in any school activity, or help in the parent room, come in and talk to our parent liaison. She'll be happy to coordinate this for you. Please be aware that it is APS policy that all volunteers must have a background check on file with APS. If you do not have one currently on file, the parent liaison can walk you through the process.
Family Engagement Policy
As a guardian of a student at Washington Middle School, I commit to being engaged in the educational process of my student by:
- making sure my student is prepared for school: Uniform, Agenda, Homework, 8:45 a.m. (Make Good Decisions)
- Reminding my student to abide by the school rules, positively engage in their education and help to create a caring environment. (Respect Others & Solve Problems)
- Staying informed of my student's progress and following APS and WMS policies: Accountability Card, Agenda, ParentVUE, Website, Emails and communicating with staff and teachers. (Praise or Refocus)
Want to Know How You Can be More Involved With Your Child's School Community?
Washington works better as a community when our families feel welcomed on campus and able to be engaged as partners in the decision-making process for their students' education.
If you have a concern about your student's academic or social-emotional well-being, we ask you to bring this to our attention immediately by communicating with the teacher(s) or school staff. Our goal is to ensure your student's safety and well-being.
